Four years since the Invasion of Ukraine, families are rebuilding their lives in the UK, but uncertainty about their future remains

Today marks four years since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. On 24 February 2022, millions of lives changed overnight. Families were separated. Homes, schools, hospitals, jobs were lost. People and entire communities were forced to leave their homes and rebuild in unfamiliar places. Four years on, the Ukrainian war continues — and so does the need for continued practical, compassionate support.

Here in the UK, more than 200,000 Ukrainians are working hard to build safety and stability for themselves and their families. But navigating the UK’s immigration system is complex, stressful and often overwhelming — especially for those already carrying the trauma of displacement. Over the past four years, Settled has supported thousands of Ukrainians across the UK with trusted, specialist legal immigration advice. From visa extensions and status changes to family reunification, our team has been providing clarity, reassurance and expert guidance when it is needed most.

This work is only possible with your continued support. Your generous donations allows us to stand alongside Ukrainian families and children at their most vulnerable moments and ensure they receive the clarity, protection, and hope they deserve.

At Settled, we see every day that this anniversary is not only about remembrance. It is about the present and to a great extent, about the future — about families re-building their lives here, children growing up speaking English, and individuals and communities contributing across the UK, while long-term security remains unresolved.

As we reflect on four years since the start of the war in Ukraine, we take a look at work that Settled has recently done to support Ukrainians in the UK and invite you to read three powerful voices sharing their personal stories highlighting the remarkable resilience, dignity and sense of belonging of Ukrainians and the positive impact their work is having in helping others and making this a better, more secure and welcoming place which Ukrainians and everyone can proudly call home.
